As you start your feminization journey, there are a few areas that you might consider paying special attention to. Read on for a few that might be unfamiliar to you.

Feminization Starts With Skin Care

Your skin is the canvas for the rest of your beauty, so make sure you pay close attention to its care.  Remember the following key tips:

• protect your skin from the sun:  make sure you use the appropriate amount and type of sunscreen and stay out of the sun when the ultraviolet rays are the strongest (between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.)
• moisturize:  make sure you care for the areas of your skin beyond your face–use a moisturizing lotion all over your body, and remember your elbows!
• work from the inside out to promote beautiful skin:  drink plenty of water in order to help keep your system (and therefore your skin) clear.  Eating nutritious foods while cutting back on junk foods is also a good idea

Pay Attention To Your Makeup

I know that wearing makeup will make you feel more feminine–and that’s understandable!  However, remember a few preliminary tips.

Don’t just instantly slap on All. The. Colour.  Remember that you have to start with cleansing your skin and moisturizing it.  After you’ve done that you can apply everything else.

Also, consider checking out this year’s makeup styles.  There can be vast differences between one year’s style and the next, and even between one season and the next.  If your image of ideal makeup is based on what women were wearing 20 years ago or more, take a look at what the photos in the magazines show you today.

Alternately, if you know a friendly make up counter, devote a couple of hours to going in to see the recent colours and styles.  One stylish woman of my acquaintance simply goes in quarterly and says, “Show me what’s new.”

Ultimately, it’s your face–you wear what makes you happy!  But just keep in mind that if you want to be stylish, especially if you’re going outside the house, you are best served by keeping current.

Are You Considering Body Hair Removal?

Excess hair in places you don’t want it to grow can be a challenge.  If you’re looking to remove it over the long term, there are a couple of options you can try.  Laser therapy is often promoted as a permanent option.  However, according to medical experts, it is not a guarantee of permanent hair removal.

For truly permanent hair removal, the only option is electrolysis.  Sometimes several treatments are required to destroy the follicle so that no new growth occurs in that specific spot.

And while you’re at it, don’t forget your eyebrows!  Make sure they are nicely shaped and that there is no growth between each brow.

Clothing

Just as with makeup, clothing styles change frequently.  Again, whatever you enjoy is the most important thing.  However, consider reading fashion magazines or even just shopping and seeing what’s new.  You can also browse Pinterest and search for “Women’s fashions, [whatever season it is], [whatever year it is].”  For example, you could search for “Women’s fashions summer 2026.”

Stores will carry the newest looks, so if keeping current is important to you, that’s an easy way to find this season’s colours and styles.

Feminization Includes Proper Sitting Positions

Proper sitting positions are something that are easy to overlook when you’re trying to present as feminine.  However, they’re very important.

What you want to avoid at any cost is the infamous manspreading position, where you spread your legs as far apart as possible.  You might not notice other people’s reaction to this, but, as I think you can see from the photo, it’s not positive.

Crossing your legs is an option but ideally keep your calves pressed together.

The most ladylike sitting technique occurs when you keep your knees together and your feet either flat on the ground or crossed at the ankles.  Again, check out the photo for a good example of this.
